PHOENIX –Marking two years since the Supreme Court struck down federal abortion rights, protesters marched on the court Monday, and Vice President Kamala Harris stumped in Phoenix to put a spotlight on the tussle over abortion in Arizona.

“Our work right now is absolutely directly going to affect the people of Arizona, the people of our country, but will have an impact on people around the world. That’s what’s in our hands right now,” Harris said at a reproductive freedom campaign event in Phoenix.

TEMPE – Downtown Tempe came alive with vibrant cultural celebrations as the city hosted its annual Juneteenth Block Party. Organized by Downtown Tempe Authority, the theme for the 2024 block party was Freedom of Expression. It combined history and education with immersive artistic experiences to showcase how art and activism come together to reflect on social justice and racial equality.

PHOENIX – An energetic 17,071 fans watched Clark score 15 points and dish out 12 assists. She finished one rebound shy of a triple-double as the Fever snatched an 88-82 victory over the Mercury thanks to three other Fever starters scoring in double digits. 

The matchup, marketed as “The GOAT” versus “The Rook,” presented the first of three matchups this season between Clark and Mercury guard Diana Taurasi.

PHOENIX – In the heart of downtown Phoenix, modern spaces are bringing retro gaming back to life, drawing crowds of all ages.

Leading this trend are Cobra Arcade Bar and Stardust Pinbar, establishments that have successfully merged vintage video games with a modern bar atmosphere. The combination has captivated locals and tourists, transforming downtown Phoenix into a destination for nostalgic entertainment.

KANSAS CITY – In June 2020, Kansas City's Country Club Plaza became a focal point for the Black Lives Matter movement, drawing hundreds of protesters calling for an end to police brutality. 

 

The Plaza protest mirrored nationwide outrage following the death of George Floyd, highlighting local issues of racial inequality and sparking a city-wide dialogue on reform and accountability in law enforcement.
